High School Camp Day 4 Recap and HOME!

WE'RE HOME!

After a great COLOR WAR on Thursday, teams got ready for the Lip Sync competition...
Stakes were high, because only 3,000 points separated the top two teams, and Lip Sync was worth 4,000 points for the winner.

Everyone did a fabulous job, and each team showed spirit, entertainment, and a LOT of fun. Our judges Kelly Knouse, Lydia Holland, and Rando Acres gave their expert opinions and laughed very hard at all the antics of our Rec Teams. Blue Team triumphed, and added their names to the coveted HSM Skim Board of Fame.

We had a special prayer time on the beach with our exiting seniors, and prayed as a Staff over them.

Friday our early morning worship on the beach ended with a group picture, then we got on the buses around 8:15am. All was well until the top of Florida, where we experienced some minor bus issues, which slowed our progress. But by the end of the night we were home safe and sound, with 159 tired, happy campers.

Inked:God's Mark on Your Life will be a Camp we never forget. Students grew in their faith, were convicted and challenged, and ready to take on the mission God has for them...

"Now, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus."
Galatians 6:17

High School Camp Day 3 Recap

Hey Parents and Hebron Family!

We can't believe we only have one full day of Camp left! Inked:God's Mark on Your Life has been covered in prayer and we continue to be amazed at what God is doing in the lives of our students.

Yesterday morning we heard from Pastor Kevin, who came down and has been loving on your students since Monday. He spoke to us about "Marks Worth Leaving" and drove home the point that each one of us leaves marks everywhere we go, whether we mean to or not, good or bad.

Here are some marks worth leaving...

  1. Encouragement (1 Thess. 5:11, Heb. 3:13)
  2. Kindness (Eph. 4:32)
  3. Forgiveness (Col. 3:13)
  4. Imitation (imitating Christ and people following Him closely. We talked about how important it is to have people you can look up to) (Eph 5:8)
  5. Thanksgiving (Eph. 5:4 and Psalm 100:4)
  6. Service (1 Peter 4:10)
He also asked students 2 very important questions, worth each of us asking ourselves regularly:
"Is your life worth imitating? If people follow you, are they going to meet Jesus?"
Then last night, Kelly Knouse gave us a challenging word from 2 Samuel 24. He made the point that "Sin is like the undertow in the ocean current; you get in and then little by little it pulls you way down shore...until you look up and realize you have NO idea where you are, that your stuff is waaaay down the beach."
Sin is sometimes a slow fade, so we have to take some action in order to battle appropriately...
  1. Identify sin specifically
  2. Confess sin immediately
  3. Turn from sin completely
Now we're on to Day 4 and will look forward to hearing all the stories today of how family groups went last night as they two great sessions and fun time at Rec yesterday sparked conversations.

Jesus is getting glory! Keep praying!

Thanks-

High School Camp Day 2 Recap

Good morning!

We are moving on to Day 3 here at Inked 2014 (our official hash tag is #inked14), but here's a quick recap of what happened yesterday...

Our Worship Leader, Eric, and his wife Kristin and the band brought us to the throne room with timely Worship and open hearts. We heard from Kelly and read through 2 Samuel in the morning, then in the evening session learned how powerful prayer is when we tap into God's Presence (Eph 3).
Break outs were during the afternoon...
"Girls Only"- Our ladies heard from Kristin Yeldell on what true friendship looks like.
"Doubts"- Pastor Brian had an open discussion where students could ask hard questions they had about their faith.
"Moving Beyond Belief"- Pastor Flaviu took students to a deeper level, talking about the importance of faith in action.
"Epic Fail"- Our college Pastor Rando and our college intern, Logan, talked about the fact that everybody fails at some point, but it's what you do and how you get up and go from there that makes the difference.

Rec was fun! We had a mass game of soccer (with a few alterations) and got to enjoy the beach for a few minutes before we heard some thunder and had to head indoors. Free time was finished out with a movie in the Ballroom before we headed to dinner.

Evening Worship went well, and sparked some great discussions for Family Group.

Our Late Night Event was off-site bowling! Our awesome bus drivers took us to Ormond Beach Lanes, and Rec teams bowled for highest score, lowest score, fastest finished.

And now we're up and ready to hear from our own courageous Pastor Kevin Miller in morning Worship! Watch for today's recap in the morning!

Much love from all the awesome students here in Daytona!

High School Camp Day One Recamp

The students arrived Monday evening roaring and ready to go as four buses stuffed to the brim made their way to Daytona Beach.  After the long bus ride, the students were finally able to unleash their pent up energy in the first worship service of camp.  Eric and the worship band led with songs that will surely become student favorites here this week.  From the worship to the message by Kelly, the students are already clinging to the truth just as we leaders and staff have been diligently praying for.  But it wouldn’t be camp without a little bit of fun.  Not only did the students participate in some awesome worship, but they were also able to develop their creative side with a little game we like to call “Will It Taco?”  From peanut butter and jelly to baby shampoo, brave volunteers were able to determine whether certain makeshift condiments worked in the all American taco shell… Let’s just say that our students will never eat a taco the same again!

The weeks and weeks of planning have all led to this moment, and the staff would like to thank you all so much for your continued prayers as we strive to lead these students into a greater understanding of God’s love and grace.  We couldn’t put on this camp without your support and the support of the excellent leaders we have serving with us down here in Daytona.  We will keep you posted!

Signing off.
