Sunday recap at MS Camp 2013 - 15 decisions for Christ at MS Camp!!!

What an unbelievable day we've had yesterday!
We started off with a big tent revival type worship in the morning, followed by a lesson on community (brought to us by Chris Holland) and how important it is to our ability to shine brighter for the Lord Jesus. We closed off that session by having our groups pray together as a family.
More ropes and rec followed throughout the afternoon. I do want to say thanks to ALL of you who prayed for us that we would have great weather at camp. It's been truly amazing, God provided us with super weather!
During the evening session we experienced an unbelievable time of worship. It is truly amazing to be in the middle of a group of Middle School students and leaders who are "ALL IN" in worship, singing at the top of their lungs in spite of lost voices ... One name was lifted high and made BIG in our midst,  ONE NAME, ABOVE ALL, JESUS!
Pastor Derek Spain shared Psalm 27 with our students. Here is a brief outline of his talk:
The Lord is my light & my salvation , whom shall I fear ?
Obvious answer - no one
No one !!!

1. Have no fear, The Lord is your Savior
John 1:12 - the right to become children of God.

2. No fear because The Lord is your Light! - Psalm 119:105
A. Read the Bible daily
B. Think on the word
C. What does the Bible say?

3 more decisions for Christ have been made at the end of the service. 2 more after the service, during family group time. Amazing!!!

We ended up the night with the amazing Middle School Talent show. Tons and tons of talent in our group as always. From laughter, to dance, to karate moves, to worship, Talent Show as always was a huge hit!

The amazing news: by midnight, we were at 15 decisions, 15 students who met Jesus at Middle School Camp and boldly stepped out in surrendering their lives to Him. Many more decisions have been made of students wanting to profess their faith in Jesus through believers baptism after we get home. PRAISE THE LORD!!!

We are wrapping camp up this morning and the plan is to leave Black Mtn, NC by 11 AM. We will keep everyone posted on exact time of departure and estimated arrival back home. Please pray for us to have safe travels as we return home.

Jesus reigns!

Saturday recap, MS Camp 2013

Our students started off their day with an awesome breakfast followed by Quiet Time.
The morning session was led by Karl Riddett who spoke on Character, living the Jesus life from the inside out.
Breakouts followed the morning session.
After lunch a full day of fun followed. An amazing time on the Rec field, ropes course and the pool.
The evening session was amazing. Started off with the unforgettable ROLL CALL. Worship with Jerod Beck and the band followed. Then the message from our awesome executive pastor, Derek Spain.
Here are some of the notes from his message:
Salt and light
Matt 5:13
You are the light of the world
Let your light so shine that men will see & glorify your father in heaven
Salt preserves
Salt makes you thirsty
Does the way we live our lives make others thirsty for God?
Into the darkness God spoke light
1. Shine brightly !
2. People will notice.
When things fall apart ... People will notice
As they notice we want to give glory to God.
Ways to shine:
It starts with salvation
Make it public through baptism.
Follow the way of Jesus everywhere you go.
By the end of the night 6 students surrendered their life to Jesus! Many others decided to publicly declare their belonging to Jesus through baptism after we get home in Dacula, GA. Exciting!!!!
God is moving big at Middle School camp!!! Hearts are changed and so far 10 teenagers have been rescued by Jesus from darkness into the kingdom of His light. Praise His Name!!!!
We have one more full day and tonight's worship session is going to be BIG. We are asking and believing Jesus for a big harvest today as we wrap things up at MS camp. Pray with us and pray for us.
PS - by midnight students will be packed up and we are leaving YMCA Blue Ridge tomorrow morning @ 11 AM and should be back at Hebron by 4 PM

Night #1 of Middle School Camp

After a safe arrival at the YMCA Blue Ridge, our students had a great BBQ dinner and headed to worship. Jerod Beck Band led us in an amazing time of worship and Pastor Derek Spain spoke to our students about spiritual blindness and how Jesus came as the light of the world. Here are the main points of Derek's talk:

John 9, Jesus and the man born blind

1. He was blind
2. He believed in Jesus
3. He was healed.
4. He was changed forever

1 Pet 2:9-10 we are a royal priesthood , a holy nation called out of darkness into light...

Ephesians 5:8-10 - you were once darkness ... But you are now in light, so walk as children of light ...

Pastor Derek's invitation was for all our students to walk in a way that honors Jesus.

13 Students walked out making decisions for Christ, some to receive Him in their hearts and some to commit in walking in the Light of their Savior.

Family groups time followed: students had opportunities to talk about what the Lord has revealed to them in the service.

At 10 PM, we went out for a scavenger hunt that ended at the bonfire where students enjoyed s'mores.

We will be posting pictures of worship soon.

Please continue to pray for us as God began a great work in the hearts of our students last night.

Please pray for Middle School CAMP 2013!

Here are some ways you can pray for us as we leave for MS Camp Friday morning:

Pray for ALL the students going to camp: open and receptive hearts to hear God’s Truth and purpose for their lives.
Pray for those going with us that don’t know Jesus that THIS WEEKEND, Jesus will draw them to Himself and change them forever.
Pray for our core students that go, that Jesus will call them into a life fully dedicated to His following, a life that SHINES BRIGHT in their world.
Pray for our family group leaders as they DO LIFE with our students over the weekend. Pray for great conversations to take place daily as    students debrief what they hear throughout the day.
Pray for our Hebron Middle School Ministry staff as they put together ALL the details of Middle School camp.
Pray for great weather.
Pray for our amazing speaker, Derek Spain. We are excited to have him speak Truth into the lives of our Middle Schoolers!
Pray for Jerod Beck Band – anointing from above as they lead our group in worship daily.
Pray for our breakout leaders.
Pray for all of our AM/PM sessions and all breakouts: that God’s Word would penetrate DEEP and STICK inside the hearts of our students.
Pray for our safety on the road and while at camp.
Pray for ALL that we do at camp to not just be something we do “at camp” but it will so CHANGE all of us to the extent that it goes beyond camp to our world back home, a world that needs the LIGHT of Jesus in a bad way.

Thank you so much for praying for us!

High School Camp - Day 4

There are some moments that God gives you that you cannot plan or contain.  This week we have experienced several of those moments this week!  So far 8 students have given their lives to Christ.  Several more have made significant decisions to move forward in the faith and living on mission.  If students follow through on the commitments they are making, we will see a Revolution in our midst at home.

Worship tonight was God-saturated.  Students were singing praises with a freedom and abandon that demonstrated what God was doing in their hearts.  They were listening intently to God's Word preached from our speaker, Matt Petty.  He challenged students to walk through the crises of belief that life is sure to bring and trust Jesus Christ.  There was movement throughout the evening and students did business with God!

Please join us for the Celebration Service at 6pm tomorrow (Friday) night in the Chapel.  It is a great moment to see the lives that have been changed and expereince a little bit of what God has done in these High School students' lives.

Pray that God would use these last few hours to continue the momentum of His moving!

High School Camp - Day 3

We are having a blast here in Daytona Beach!  The sun is beautiful, the water is sparkling, and the students are soaking in God's truth.  Morning Celebration was upbeat and students got to hear from our Senior Pastor, Kevin Miller.  He encouraged the students to remember that when they get home and it gets difficult to live out their commitments, they need to rely on the Lord.  Using the story of Jehoshaphat, he encouraged students to not give up in living for Jesus.
___________________________________________________

This afternoon, we held the first High School Camp Dodgeball Tournament!

The competition was awesome!
Students competed against other Rec teams and BROUGHT IT!

They worked on a rotation, playing every team before the competition was over.
Night 3 of Worship was incredible, yet again!  There's such energy and excitement in the room each night.  Tonight students were challenged by our speaker with two questions:

Are you in a position to listen to God?  What are you willing to give up?

Using the story of Elijah and the widow, he showed how giving sacrificially can make a world of difference.  God is really challenging our students and working on hearts.

Keep praying!  Tomorrow night Matt will be sharing the Gospel message again.  Pray for lives to be changed and students to come home ready to live for Jesus and change the student culture in our community!

High School Camp - Day 2

It has been an incredible Day Two here in Daytona Beach, FL!  We know God is working on hearts and lives here. Already we have had students respond to God in giving their lives to Him, answering God's call to ministry, and in confessing sin.

We started the day with Quiet Times out on the beach and pool deck.  Students spent time diving into God's word and prayer.  Afterward, we kicked off our morning celebration.  There is a lot of fun and freedom in these services with efforts to get our students going in the mornings.

Afterward, students went to Breakouts on a variety of topics: Family, Relationships, Making A Difference in Culture, and Missions.  Students are soaking in wisdom from some of Hebron's own leaders as they lead these sessions and use God's Word to speak to these issues.

After lunch we dove into recreation.  The theme was around the idea of team building to get our Rec Team growing together and building relationships.  The sun was up and the weather was hot, but the students competed with great attitudes and a lot of heart.

Students enjoyed a little free time on the beach this afternoon.  After getting cleaned up and enjoying some dinner together we jumped into evening worship.

Eric Yeldell and band are leading these students to God in songs of praise.  There is an awesome energy in the room as students connect with their heavenly Father.  Matt Petty brought a powerful message on "Starting A Revolution". Through the story of Nehemiah, Matt gave the following steps to starting a revolution...
Sell Out, Pray, and Move.

Right now, students are in Family Groups discussing what God is doing in their lives.  We'll be bowling tonight...

Please continue to pray that God would break down walls in the lives of our students so they would give Him full control in their lives.  Pray that students would continue to respond to God's leading.

Thanks for reading and praying!

A quick snapshot of today's rec FUN!

Our rec teams BROUGHT IT today!

Students are at FREE TIME on this beautiful day!  The wind is blowing to keep us cool and the sun is shining to warm up the beach!
Be praying now that God would work in our service!  Our evening worship service runs from 7-9PM!

More updates to come....

Worship Time!

Just a glimpse of the excitment taking place in our worship services every night this week! It's time for a REVOLUTION!!!

High School Camp Day 1

Today was very full, but fantastic day!  Students did awesome as we made the 9 hour trip down to Daytona Beach.  Shortly after arriving they piled into elevators and headed up to their rooms where they found thier T-shirt, Water Bottle, Camp book and even candy waiting for them on their beds!  Their fridge was stocked with everything they would need for breakfast and summer camp had officially begun!

Excitement filled the air as the doors were finally opened at 7:30 and students were allowed to enter into the Ballroom for worship!  We started the service with a few fun games, already bringing comradery to the rec teams -- they are so excited to compete against one another in our Luau later tonight!  They'll be competing in a limbo tournament, a ring toss games, and even a "bury the pig" competition.  During our worship service, Eric Yeldell did an incredible job of leading our students through worship, and Matt was crystal clear in his message to our students about defining their own perception of God.  Matt quoted A.W. Tozer, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us" and students were challenged to develop their own perception of who God is, which in turn inevitably determines how they live for Him. Many students made decisions during the invitation and many of those chose to follow Christ for the first time.  Amen!
Keep praying!  God is at work here already and is gearing up to do incredible things this week!    A Revolution has already begun and Dacula and our world will never be the same because of what is happening here!
"These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also!"

Acts 17:6B

Until tomorrow....

Student Camp Scholarships

For $175 we can scholarship a student in need to go to Summer Camp.  Any amount is accepted and deeply appreciated.  Every year we scholarship students and every year this investment makes an eternal difference!

There are multiple ways to donate to the scholarship fund:

  • During the week (Monday-Thursday), there are scholarship envelopes available in the Student Ministry Offices.  Just pick up an envelope, insert your contribution, check 'other', and write "Student Scholarship" on the envelope.  Then turn it in to a Student Ministry Staff Member.
  • In Adult Connect Groups, each roll should have an envelope for the collection of Student Scholarship Contributions.  Just insert the contribution and send it back with the Adult Roll.
  • In Worship Services, you can use a normal offering envelope.  Simply insert your contribution, check 'Other', and write "Student Scholarship" on the envelope.  Then, place the envelope in the plate when it passes.
Thanks for prayerfully considering your role in making a difference in students lives through scholarships.  There are a number of students that have already made requests for scholarships.  Thanks for helping us to "Connect People to Jesus Christ and His Lifestyle!"

High School Winter Retreat - Part 2

Good Morning from Tennessee!

We had an amazing Sunday here at the Strength to Stand Conference.  We started the morning with worship led by Matt Papa.  Students had to learn a few songs (Matt writes most of the music and lyrics that he sings) but it wasn't long before they were in full swing worshipping Jesus Christ.  The morning session was led by Joey Hill.  He challenged our students with a good illustration: If your life was a computer link that immediately redirected people to what you are all about, what would they find if they clicked the link?

Yesterday afternoon we spent some time in Gatlinburg, walking through shops and interacting with some of the other students who were in town for the multiple conferences that are happening in this area.  We left it time to get to the hotel and catch the first half of the Falcons game.  Not the most spiritual part of our weekend, but important nonetheless... :-)

In our evening sessions we were again led by Matt Papa who challenged our students to consider giving God the praise that He deserves because of his life, death, and resurrection.  We heard from speaker Brent Crowe, who is vice-president of Student Leadership University.  He posed the question, "What would you attempt for the glory of God if you knew that you could not fail?"

After a brief intermission, there was concert by rap artist Trip Lee whose lyrics create a unique worship experience.  Then David Nassar brought a message on Psalm 1:6, in which he challenged students to consider that the people they know and love are heading for the real eternal destinations the Bible describes: heaven or hell.  This reality should cause us to live differently.

During our church debrief time it was clear that God is moving in the hearts and lives of our students.  Students shared taking specific steps in living for the Lord with greater passion when they come home. We talked about not be a youth group that is a high-school-aged babysitting service, or a youth ministry that solely ministers to ourselves, but reaching out as students on mission to see lives changed by the Gospel.  Students broke into groups and prayed for specific people they could share their faith with when they arrive home.

We have had an incredible weekend so far.  As we head into the last day of our retreat pray that the commitments students are making would stick once they arrive home.  Pray for our safety and wise decisions as we head out to the slopes.  Pray for safe travels as we come home tonight!

We will see you all around 9:30pm tonight!

High School Winter Retreat

Hello from Pigeon Forge, TN!

We made it in yesterday and immediately jumped into the Strength to Stand student conference.  Last night, we went to the Sevierville Event Center along with more than 5,000 students.  In all venues across the city, there are more than 10,000 students here for the conference from all over the country.

Students "got down" with KJ-52, a rap artist who was also at Hebron in April of this past year.  After that, the evening took a worshipful turn with Kristian Stanfill, a worship leader fresh off of Passion 2013.  He led our group into a powerful time of worship that was followed by our message for the evening.

Scott Dawson spoke about our tendency to be captured by affluence, adversity, or apathy.  In each of these things we run the risk of losing our passion for God in favor of something much less.  At the close of his message he extended the Gospel message and invited students to respond.  Hundreds of students responded and were counseled in faith decisions.  Praise the Lord!  Afterward, Kari Jobe and David Crowder led us in worship.

Our students did awesome on the first day of this trip.  Please continue to pray!  God is already dealing with students on many different levels.  Pray that if there is any student on this trip that does not have a relationship with Jesus, they would begin one this weekend.  Pray for the students that know Jesus, that they would listen closely to what God has to say to them this weekend and respond with life change when they get home.

Looking forward to a great day two.  Check out the blog tomorrow for another HS Winter Retreat update!
